It was about time, really. Find us by searching for 'Seriously Fish' and become a fan! We'll probably add site news and species profile updates on a more or less daily basis then, umm, we're not sure what else yet. At any rate we promise to try and make it interesting and will include some stuff not presently on the main website, hopefully involving fishes.

Since one of us is a technophobe and the other socially defective we'd really appreciate your help getting things moving so hope to see you there! You can find our page here. ... more
Seems books are all the rage here on SF at the moment, and this one can only be described as a real pot of gold, ahem...

'Rainbowfishes - Their Care & Keeping in Captivity' is compiled and written by Australian aquarist Adrian Tappin and is undoubtedly the best reference guide to this beautiful group of fishes published to date. Over 493 pages he includes sections on their history in aquaria, distribution (including biogeography of the Sunda and Sahul shelf regions), aquarium care, breeding, correct feeding plus a full species index with stunning colour photography of both fishes and habitats. Adrian has made this available as a free download in either E-book or printable format which we think is an astonishing display of generosity from a genuinely committed hobbyist. Click to read a bit about the author and download the book for yourself. ... more

The first book, entitled 'A Selection of Freshwater Fish Biotopes in Mexico' was published earlier this year and after reading it we decided to get in touch with the authors to offer our support ... more
Willkommen Siamensis.de!

We know; these clichéd 'international' greetings have to stop. SF news is having a difficult time composing anything creative this morning following a Gambas-induced bout of gastroenteritis over the weekend. Oh, the horrors we have seen...

...ahem, moving swiftly on we would like to offer a very warm welcome to Siamensis.de, a new website that aims to provide detailed information about the natural habitats of Anabantoids and other species. The work of two German Anabantoid nuts, it's a little different to your average aquarium site because these guys visit the localities personally before reporting on them. The result is some superb first-hand information including images of the biotopes and the fishes found there plus water parameter details and maps. The site is only available in German at present but is well worth a visit for the images alone ... more
Yes you did read that correctly señoras y caballeros. You see we hope that this site will grow into a true international community of like-minded fishy types whilst helping to promote some of the conservation efforts for freshwater species that are going on around the globe. We're just innocent (and possibly deluded) hippies, really...

To that end we're very pleased to introduce the Spanish group Sociedad de Estudios Ictiológicos (S.E.I. for short). Please take the time to read about some of the great work being done by this organisation with some beautiful but rather neglected little fishes ... more
