I just witnessed something I have never seen before my eyes and I feel so privileged! I suspect the most of you have already seen corydoras placing her eggs against a window or at as[ecial place inside the tank. But this was new for me. I had already seen how busy they were, ever since the hood of the 60 l. tank is off and there is a spotlight above the tank now, so I took the time to sit and wait. And with success. I saw one of the Aeneus clytching her eggs and I saw her eyes fixed on me. So I sat absolutely quiet and didn't even breath. And she felt save enough to place her eggs, 12 in total, but there are more clutches spread arround the tank, against the side of the filtering. I am so glad I cleaned that filter just yesterday, so I can leave them all in peace for a while. It is such a beautiful happening, it's so magic and so powerful. Such a wonderful little miracle. I just had to share with you. /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />

With an open tank and a cat apr. 45 cm away from her...I wonder if that's courage or plain instinct. Anyway, much to my regrets the batch of eggs she placed on the filter is gone and the ones on the glass facing us have been decimated too /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> The Danios ate them right in front of my eyes! /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> But there are six left that have been impregnated/fertilized (what is the correct word here?) And there must be eggs hidden all over the place. And is not just the zebra danio's that plucked them off of the windows, there also are snails that eat them. I am okay with that, it's just natures way to balance things, but it was a wonderful experience /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />

Great stuff.

Let's hope some of the eggs make it.

Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

Thx, I hope so too. But there are still at least 12 youngsters from the last time, Some are still deep black, some are showing their pepper cory markings already. These corys are busy bees, they're always busy with something. Very much more since the hood is off and the spotlight is on their little heads. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Neither have I Reva - some are easier to spawn than others and the only two species I own aren't on the easier end of the spectrum. I'm dead jealous of thelizzious!

I have been ill for a few days (Lupus related lung and coronary stuff I wont bore you with) so I might have neglected my tanks for just a day or three. I can't find any off the cory eggs, they must have been eaten...And just now I watched the Peppers go upand down the walls and you know what that means, so I sat there and waited and watched those two male zebra danios ate all their precious gems....!! What am I gonna do about that? The snail thing has k
just been solved and now this... Is that tank really under a bad spell? I mean, it started out with the danio's disappearings and now they are eating my precious peppers eggs. I would set up a ten gallon to hatch the eggs in the next time they spawn. If they like the water conditions, then try to mimic them in the smaller tank. Any community tank will have it's "egg eaters". Sorry that happened /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> The Daring Daft Danio Brothers! Just when I wanted to say something about how easy-going and pretty they became, they snitched my poor Cory-eggs. Well okay, whatz done iz done huh? Baby-snatchers, grmbl. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
I just found them snatching baby snails too! Someone call Interpol! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="Laugh" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
