I finally managed to get some photos of my Danio Maegahalayensis this morning, they are a lovely fish but almost impossible to photograph within the aquarium.

Beautiful specimens. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> Fishbase are listing D. meghalayensis as a synonym of D. dangila though. Is this correct or are FB behind the times on this species?

Thanks Matt

I think FB are behind the times, to my knowledge it is a species in its own right.

These are the species FB currently has listed as valid for the genus Danio...

1. Danio albolineatus (Blyth, 1860)
2. Danio choprai (Hora, 1928)
3. Danio dangila (Hamilton, 1822)
4. Danio feegradei (Hora, 1937)
5. Danio kerri (Smith, 1931)
6. Danio kyathit (Fang, 1998)
7. Danio muongthanhensis (Nguyen, 2001)
8. Danio nigrofasciatus (Day, 1870)
9. Danio rerio (Hamilton, 1822)
10. Danio roseus (Fang & Kottelat, 2000)

The list seems small to me? Anyone with more knowledge got any clues? By the way Mark, I presume the more colourful fish at the bottom there is a male?

I know it not the most accurate but even wikipedia list 16 species.

Yes Matt the male is the bottom one, I have 2 males and 4 females at present.

Cool, thanks for the confirmation Mark. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I was asking as we have info in our (incomplete) D. dangila profile stating that meghalayensis is distinct so just wanted to check. Do you think we could use these pics when we get around to adding a meghalayensis profile mate?
