Good evening,
(my first post in this beautiful forum - exciting /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> )
Two of our canarensis started to do some kind of courtship behaviour, cleaning, chasing the others, digging, "shaking" (s. video); the ovipositor of the female is protruding a bit. This situation has been lasting over more than two weeks...

Does anybody have an idea how to maybe stimulate spawning - temperature, water exchange...?
canarensis courtship

Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Stefan and welcome to forum /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I have a group of five in their own tank just now and hoping that they are getting set up to spawn. I have seen them do this with an upside down coconut shell before but didnt get any eggs that I seen.

What are your water parameters?

cheers
Colin

Hi Colin,
my water is middle hard (some 16 degrees) and some 26 C warm.
I will keep the forum updated.
Regards,
Stefan

Good evening,
The female has put on the spawning dress, cleaning the substrate (actually a very old pottery kindergarten Christmas cradle by our elder son /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />) but the male is passive - chasing around the others (and her). Cross fingers!
Cheers,
Stefan
