How does one positively identify this species from the others in the B. splendens group, especially B. sp. ""Mahachai"? I'm just talking about the true wild forms here rather than domesticated/hybrid fish. Ta!

hmm, as far as i know, the smaragdina are a slightly slimmer fish and can be identified has they have green or blue gill plates with wild spots on the tail rays. that's all i could find about them.
