In the last week I have had 2 females with bulging eyes and swollen bodies, all other fish in tank are fine, all water stats are ok, I recently removed the betta male and rehoused him, could they be eggbound?
Any ideas?

Hey

It is not uncommon for female Kribensis, coming towards the end of their lives, to take on this appearance. It is as though they go into a 'state of dropsy'. It is nothing to do with aquarium conditions etc. just a natural signal of old age in these fish. Don't worry about their fellow tank occupants as they will/should be fine.

Regards David

Thanks for your reply David, was getting a bit worried as my previous females never seemed to last long as the male always ended killing them..
