Hello all...first post here /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I was looking around my local aquarium shops for White Cloud Mountain Minnows, and one of the shops had these. The owner of the shop said these were related, possibly from Vietnam, but he also mentioned Thailand, and they require the same tank conditions as the White Clouds, so I went for them.

Please have a look at this video, and tell me what you think...

Can YOU help?

Sorry about the poor quality video, and the background noise, but I want to find this out ASAP to give them the conditions they need.

I really would like your opinion on this...

Thanks in advance /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

By the way, when I asked for the Latin name of this "Vietnamese Minnow" he told me "Tanichthys albonubes", which two minutes on the internet tells me White Cloud Mountain Minnow.

Well, even I, a relative newcomer, can see they are not WCMMs.

So, what are they ?

Not a minnow, not even from the cyprinid family /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Try searching for Glowlight Tetra, Hemigrammus erythrozonus

I was thinking the same...but my fish shop owner insists they are minnows, but just not White Clouds, but a relation.

Has anyone else their opinion to add ?

Thanks again....

I agree with both of you, and would be concerned about any LFS that could make such a glaring mistake.

Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

Hi Stickleback, there is a minnow from Vietnam that is closely related to the White Cloud ,perhaps your guy ordered them and got the Glowlights instead ,but as a retailer he should really know his fish a bit more !

That's the one! Looks like a tarted up White Cloud with the bright red lips!
