Beautiful.. Theres a few of these knocking about at the moment, Rare aquatics received the first lot via Columbia shipped as Trifasciatus, i got 75 last week shipped from Botoga as N.marilynae. They have obviously stumbled on a decent collecting site somewhere..

The race is on to get them bred /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Just an update on this little fish.

Typical pencilfish really - easy to keep and peaceful with each other and tankmates. Will eat anything they can get in their very small mouths including crushed flake. Females are obvious after a while being rather plumper. Maximum size looks to be about 3cm. They have a nocturnal pattern of blotches as is normal for the genus.

Spawns in the same manner as N. trifasciatus and they do like to eat their eggs. The fry are of course very small and need infusoria/paramecium as first food.

I've moved the adults into a bottom tank so it'll be hard to get a picture - but it's much the same as say N. beckfordi. Diagonal bands/blotches. The main band is in the same place as the red blotch if that makes sense?

Had 8 of these today from a shop in Copenhagen. Also came as N. marilynae.

I think there are both sexes - some has a bit of red in the pattern (like in the pic in the first post) and others not.
