Just wondering if anyone is keeping this fish and/or know anything about it? Thinking about ordering a few but I haven't been able to find any information on them on the net. There was an article in the may/june edition of the AMAZONAS magazine, but I don't have it and my german isn't the best anyway.

Maybe Matt has the paper at least? <img src="style_emoticons//smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

There was also a new halfbeak on the list, Nomorhamphus sp. "Fire", which I'm guessing is this fish:

http://www.aristocratama.com/g.....lery/image...rhamphus_sp.jpg

And a quick google search reveals that O. woworae is found schooling with a Nomorhamphus species.

Both look very nice if you ask me <img src="style_emoticons//thumbs_up.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="thumbs_up.gif" />

I'm really tempted to buy some, but they're pretty expensive at 24 Euro per fish /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Same price. I'm assuming they came in the same shipment.

LOL yeah. Never kept any Oryzias species before though. The swedish killi guru Anita Persson (www.alfanita.se) is keeping this species (listed as Oryzias sp. "Sulawesi" in their fishlist) since a few months back. Sent an email to her asking for some experiencies.

Here's a pic of it so people can see why we're drooling:

Well I went by my local fish store and asked them to order some for me. I said I wanted 5 and then she said she would order 10 so she could get them cheaper /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> Which means I get more fish to pick from. And she also asked me what those Nomorhamphus sp. "Fire" were, and I said she should definitely order some of those so I think she might just do it /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="Laugh" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

And another picture of the Nomorhamphus sp.:

I've picked up 5 now. She didn't unpack the fish and they came in 2 bags with 5 fish in each so I had to pick one /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> Hard to tell from the colouration in the bag but I hopefully got 3 males and 2 females. At the moment I'm just adjusting them to my water, so I've put them in a 2 litre plastic container and hell they even look amazing in there /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Won't be able to take any pictures until after next week. Turned out I got 4 males and 1 female. Luckily I got to swap one of my males for a female at the store, the other bag had 2 males and 3 females, typically my luck.

Haven't kept them. They look very nice however and a lot cheaper as well, less than 2 euro per fish.

An interesting note on the O. wowoare is that they seem to like to graze on hard surfaces. They've been grazing a lot on a rock in their tank as well as the gravel.

Wow, one of my females is carrying eggs already! And I've only had them for a couple of days here /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="Laugh" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

What's worse is that I'm leaving for Italy for a week tomorrow.

Unfortunate timing.

Still, if she's ready to breed so soon after you got them then there will be more opportunities.

Mature, sensible signature required for responsible position. Good prospects for the right candidate. Apply within.

Gustaf I feel you don´t take responsibility for your fish, better bring them to me next time you´re in Stockholm /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I´ll give them a good home.
