I am not at home but when I do I will upload the pictures I managed last night. Pretty sure that the fish I was given because no one else wanted him is a Parosphromenus deissneri because other conspecies are not really as common and it was simply labeled as licorice gourami

On the contrary, dessneri is extremely rare in the trade. AFAIK it has only ever been imported once to Europe, not sure about the USA. However you are right that most Paros are sold under that name erroneously. Dessneri is easily identified by the presence of a short caudal filament in males, but it is much more likely that you have one of sp. Sintang, 'blue line' or other hard to distinguish bintan-like forms.
Lots of good info over on Parosphromenus Project.
I got the pictures and I will be taking more after I feed him because I suspect that he will color up but also he comes out of hiding. I am thinking of getting a different light so that he will move around but that plants wont die. I already have the bulbs I just have to pick if I want to use a green or a red bulb.
I edited the pictures a bit because he was hiding and the shadows were all messed, the colors didn't change very much though

Yeah the shop didn't really have it set up well and he wasn't selling so I got him for free. Sad and going to give him daphnia soon. He chases the baby shrimp and Copepods. I need to get a daphnia culture started can anyone help me out on what to feed them and what to set up. I'm in a colder area and summers aren't very hit really only warm and I can't keep them outside yet. Going to look at the forum though to get an idea of what to do
