This is what we have from JJ for P. melanampyx. Is it a P. fasciatus variant?

possible mate, but i'll tell andy to have a look at that pic,
i'd say myself that it's just another variant of fasciata but andy will tell you mate.
he should be on tomorrow.

I would agree with (Jerdon, 1849) and disregard (Day, 1865).

Yup agreed Graeme. There's no melanampyx profile in the database was just thinking I'd add this pic to the fasciatus profile if it is that species as it's not a form I've seen before. /thumbs_up.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="thumbs_up.gif" />

I'd agree that this fish is a fasciatus !
Keep a lookout for Fasciatus Pradhani , very similar but with five bands , nice lookers too ! I think they are smaller in size than the regular Fasciatus ?
I think this might have been touched on somwhere here , that Fasciatus are very hard drivers of the females whilst spawning ? but if my memory serve's me right Mick found them quite gentle ? if so it just goes to show you cant trust everyrthing you read /thumbs_up.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="thumbs_up.gif" />
