I took about 80 pictures last night and sadly only managed a very few usable ones.

Unfortunately my photography skills are not up-to-par, I need a wife like MD's - who knows the right Xmas presents to buy /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Female Puntius rhomboocellatus, this particular female sets up a loose territory and chases out all other females and males, occasionally she will try to "drive" a male into the floating plants but, it never comes to anything. When defending her territory she will even have a go at the juvenile cichlids, this barb is more cichlid-like than the cichlids /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> There's 14 of these Puntius in this tank. The photo doesn't show how deep in the body the females can become.

A shot that's too dark but, it's the best I could manage

Not a great shot although, I like it as it shows how iridescent these fish can be

One of the juvenile Etroplus canarensis

A close up of one of the mature E. canarensis that shows the subtle colouration in the cheeks. It's better when viewed full-size
