I am having a very hard time finding out much about this fish (Teleocichla proselytus). All I can see is that it is a riverine species, which prefers acidic water (6.0 and lower) and is often collected in the Tapajos region. They grow 2-3 inches and behave somewhere between a pike Cichlid and a goby. What I found is that they behave similar to to african riverine fish Steatocranus tinanti. Clear well oxygenated water and enough rock work to break up line of site. Does anyone have any information they can add to it.

Kept two Teleocichla species (one larger form, one smaller) for a couple of years and would say you've covered most important things there. Although collected from rapids they seem to prefer calmer water around the base of rocks, so no need for a lot of flow but plenty of rockwork a prerequisite. At least in my experience, the larger species was relatively peaceful but the small one which was traded as sp. Xingu III became extremely aggressive once the fish reached maturity.

This is the larger species - supposedly collected in the Xingu so tentatively identified as T. monogramma due to the single lateral line. They are still young here but the eventual alpha male turned into quite a spectacular fish.
