Oh man didn't put two and two together with the genus name - so these new names are still being used. Also, I wonder if this is the fish we have listed as Rasbora macrophthalma (which the paper says is a synonym of R. dorsiocellata)?

Well in this case Brevibora which was erected in 2009 to include only the former Rasbora dorsiocellata. At least now there are two species. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Several other genera containing one or two former Rasbora spp. were put into place at the same time but the results were questioned in a paper last year. Something to do with splitting the genus into new taxa despite not including all member species, but the equally unsatisfactory conclusion was to put everything back into Rasbora including well-established genera like Trigonostigma and Boraras. We talked about it on here at the time and decided to retain the 'traditional' placements for the time being.

I thought you might've meant that, but needed to be sure. Thanks.

I think if you are going to use Trigonostigma and Boraras then you should adopt Brevibora.
