Homaloptera santhamparaiensis, a New Species of Balitorid Fish (Teleostei: Balitoridae) from a Western Ghats Stream of Kerala, India
Homaloptera santhamparaiensis is a new species of balitorid fish collected from a stream in the Western Ghats of Kerala, India. It can be distinguished from its congeners by the following combination of characters: dors al f in or igin behind the or igin of the pelvic and inserted nearer to the caudal fin base than to the tip of the snout; 4 simple and 10 branched rays in the pectoral; body dark brown with 8-9 brown blotches and 88 to 95 scales alongthe lateral line.
