Do Shrimp Clean Plants?

do shrimp clean plants? i want something to keep them "Shiny" and fresh. how many would i need for a 21.gal. 3ft. tank? the plants are healthy and growing, but the get algae and food stuck in them. thanks for your help and time! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

yep, amano shrimp eat various types of algae and also scavenge for leftovers. You can go for as many as you like really - 10-20 would be good in a 3ft tank.

What fish do you have though as plenty would love a prawn sandwich!

While shrimp can help with algae control, they will only help if you have a small amount of algae. If you have a lot of it then you should look at other parameters to control it - do you have too much lighting or have it on for too long etc. Do you have high nirates/phosphates, do you do regular water changes etc?

all my levels have gone down to about zero. i do 25-40 % water change every 1-2 weeks,
