Families here are very convoluted which is very handy when you need something from an out of the way place. One of my young fishermen told me he had an Uncle in Sacpuy. I knew Jute Snails lived in one of the small fast flowing streams here. So several weeks ago we despatched a runner with a message in a forked stick requesting a supply of Hootays (Jute Snails).
I had given up hope and forgotten about my request thinking that the messenger had fallen asleep by an aguada and been eaten by a crocodile or even worse.
Today a basket of a couple dozen baby Jute Snails arrived. I asked about the adults. There was a blank look, a shrugging of shoulders and upturned palms of the hands. Something was mumbled about being hungry.

They are so small it is going to be difficult photographing their nightime activities.
I don't know the species yet.

The Jute Snails are obviously very intelligent. They have already organised the Apple Snails to run a taxi service for them.
