I really have got MTS badly. I've just ordered a little corner tank for a dark corner of my landing, its an Aqua One UFO 350 which is about 30 litres and will be ideal for that corner, and I couldn't resist it as soon as I saw it in the LFS

Firstly I thought I'd have it cold water with some WCMM as my nephew has them and they look so cute. And then, as I'd be putting a heater in anyhow, I thought of a couple of Dwarf Puffers as they really are something special.

I'd like to have minimal stocking, but something a little bit different in the tank /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Any ideas anyone

What are the dimensions of the tank? What's your water like? Do you plan on growing plants?

I don't intend to use real plants, I never have any luck with them at all.

The dimensions are 53w x 30d x 44h I don't know the measurement front to back at the widest point though.

It's not up and running yet, but my other tanks are Ammonia & Nitrite 0 and Nitrate 10. PH 7 dGH 5.

I just wanted something a bit different, and obviously don't want to overstock that's why I came up with the idea of Puffers, but think it may not be such a good idea.

I don't like the UG filter as there is no filter media at all just the plate, so I've ordered a Fluval U1 so the filtration should be OK.

I'll probably go WCMM unless I can think of anything else /wacko.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wacko.gif" />

If you are going to heat it, go for a small group of dwarf puffers (they're not exactly social, but won't scrap if well fed and housed in a tank with lots of cover to break lines of sight), or a solitary specimen of one of the dwarf snakeheads. The latter won't need much heating.

The snakeheads will be "interactive" but not very active. If you like a lot of movement, then a small shoal of mountain minnows might be the answer.

Mini planted tank with WCMM and Shrimp - all the way!

Ok it's not particularly unusual as everyone seems to be doing one at the minute, but they do look good!

You could always try the 'other' white cloud.

I love that long finned one. I'll have a word with my LFS and see if they can get some of them in for me.

Thanks for all your replies /thumbs_up.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="thumbs_up.gif" />

I managed to pick up a pair of Tanichthys micagemmae yesterday, lovely fish but they only had the one pair left, they are now in my spare 10 litre tank with a mature filter until their new home cycles.

I'm still trying from local sources to order some more in, but if I don't manage to get any and just bought in Tanichthys albonubes, would they interbreed?

I also asked the bloke where I bought the fish, about the long finned ones and he said that they called them 'Dutch minnows' as they were all bred in Holland, but you have to collect in person (dealers not public) He said he thought they were just a morph of Albonubes but wasn't sure.

I'd be interested to hear your comments /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />

Hi Fishwife, the minnows should look great ,personally I'd stick with the ones you have thats how nature intende them to look , I've never had them but perhaps if they breed you might end up with a small group anyway ?

I remember a few years ago Mick[thefish] gave me half a dozen spotted Danios [.nigrofasciatus ] for a small 18x12x12 inch tank and I ended up with about seventy fish of various sizes /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />

I think there's a chance they might hybridise yup Fishwife; you could always add a few small nemacheilid loaches or something to mop up any eggs though. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> As for the long-finned micagemmae; there's an interesting thread been going on over at Petfrd for those that haven't seen it. They are definitely not the same as long-finned T. albonubes which do exist and are supposed to be an artificial strain. Makes me curious to know their origins after seeing these micagemmae adults...

Mmm D. nigrofasciatus; me wants! *licks lips and makes mental note to FINALLY investigate adding more smilies to the forum* How did you spawn them Andy?
