Heheh sorry man. When I'm referring to Apistogrammas, I mean a specific genus of dwarf cichlids, i.e. Apistogramma agassizii.

Check the knowledge base here and you might have some luck /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Hmmm, thanks for that - might have a bit of a problem getting my ph down there, Its about 7.6 out of the tap, probably get it down to 7.4 with the addition of bogwood, but thats about my limit - unless I go down the RO path, maybe thats for later.........

I thought about rainwater earlier, but I was told it was to contaminated to use, must admit I tested the ph of some it was 6.5. We live in a very old cottage with old roof tiles very near the east coast, however the guttering is all plastic, so I'm thinking if I invest in a new water butt, & put some filter floss in the downpipe to get all the nasties, do you think it would be ok to use, final point..... would I need to add conditioner before use??, Thanks

i do exactly that, use a barrel and i use a pop bottle with both ends cut off stuffed with filter floss to get any bits out of the water. the water should be pretty pure now we have lost all the factories. i use it straight in the tanks, no messing. all i suggest is don't collect the first 15-20 minutes of water, this allows for the particles suspended in the air to be washed away.

excellent, Thanks for that.... will give it a go, I'll get one of those slim spacesaver butts, stand it next to the original one, with a diverter full of floss & see how it goes /thumbs_up.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="thumbs_up.gif" />

Excellent advice Keith. Let us know how you get on Richard and errrr, sorry about the knowledge base. The Apistogramma section is particularly horrendous at the moment. I'll finish it soon I promise! /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
