Basically iv setup a new aquarium for the first time since having children! I have a good knowledge of fish as had kept them for many years, however it's been a while! Basically I am ever the perfectionist and had set my tank up lovely, looked perfect then had realized I'd made a basic mistake and had forgotten to rinse out the gravel! So wanting every thing perfect for some new fishes I removed everything changed the water and rinsed the gravel! But unfortunately for me having a half hexagonal tank makes it a little tricky getting it to look right from all Angeles, so let's just say iv had my hands in an out of the tank probably a 100 times trying to get it to look right! Now as daft a question u might thunk it is, is there any way I may have polluted the water! I wash my hands with washing up liquid or give em a good blast under the tap before placing them in, but my main concern is that the water has turned a little white n cloudy! Any thoughts, ideas or would I should do would be great Thanks!!

Firstly try not to use any soaps on your hands before putting them in your tank, fish and Shrimps can certainly die from them not to mention the bacteria you're trying to get going in your biological filtration.
Now to cloudiness, if it is simply stirred up gravel dust etc it will settle itself out over a few days, just wait and it can't hurt a thing.
How newly set up is the tank and do you have fish or anything in there already, if so it could be ammonia build up which is toxic to fish and shrimp. If this is the case please look up biological filtration and the nitrogen cycle, which should help you with what to do next.

No fish have been added! I'm aware this needs time to establish. I set up on Saturday and had it running a couple of days fine before realizing!! So I reset it all up yesterday and today have noticed the whitish cloud! Only difference is I added the water treatments the tank came with second time round! And just to clarify I always rinse hands well after I wash em!! Thanks for the replies! Don't know if it will settle and stay fine or if it's worth doing water changes with bottled water!!

Ok so what type of water treatment is it? Some can result in re-suspension of gravel dust and such to a degree. Some even contain a tiny bit of clay themselves which binds things and will eventually settle. Just be patient. Depending on your filter you can add some fine filter wool which can help "polish" the water but not necessary.
I would not recommend refilling with bottled water. Look at how your filter is moving water in the tank. If you have lots of water movement this can keep particles in suspension and prevent them from settling.
