Hi guys,
5 months ago i bought 12 Discus but have been unable to identify them /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />
I live in India and the guys who sold them to me too aren't sure what kind they are.
I attach a picture(which isn't good quality since i took it from my cell phone)and hope some help is on the way.
I'm enjoying the guys but would still like to know what i have......I think they are Marlboro's and Cobalt Blue's.
Thanks so much,
Regards,
Shiv /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

The fish in photo's 2 and 5 could be Marlboro Reds or Red Melon, probably Marlboro Reds

The fish in Photo's 3 and 4 could be Blue Diamonds or Platinum Golds, probably Blue Diamond

I am in no way a discus expert so I am not 100%

Lovely fish by the way /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Thanks Mad Duff,
I thought they were Red Marlboro's too.
And now i feel(strongly)that the others are Blue Diamonds.
I think they are lovely too and hope to breed them soon.
Thanks again,
Shiv

6 Rainbow tetra's
4 Serpae Tetra's
2 Zebra Danio's
4 Blue Rams
1 Albino Pleco
1 Common Pleco

I got the discus when they must've been a month or so old.
In India the shopkeepers aren't really aware of what they sell so i was i little confused if the red guys were Sunset Reds or......
They have now grown to 3inches and are thriving.
What does your tank hold Matt?

At the moment I have two containers, one with Aphanius mento and the other Cualac tesselatus Shiv...both species of killifish that don't have common names. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> The members here have a pretty varied selection of stuff. Have a look in the photo album bit and you'll be able to see some of our fish. How are you finding the serpaes with the discus? I always found they would nip the fins of cichlids. Oh and where in India do you live? Your country has some wonderful native species. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

I haven't had a problem(as yet)with my Serpaes nipping fins....
I live in a city called Mumbai which doesn't have much variety of fish, besides Pearl Arowanas,a few kinds of Discus, some variety of Tetra's,Piranha's,Flowerhorns and Pleco's.
I am slightly inclined to the Discus and Arowana's. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
The saving grace in Mumbai is that the fish are very cheap(compared to the prices i see on the net).
Do post pics of the guys you have.
Cheers,
Shiv
