Is There A Gourami That Would Work In This Community Aquarium?

I have a community aquarium full of small fish, 1 inch to 2 1/2 inches. The fish are:
6 Melanotaenia praecox (Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish)
8 Rasbora heteromorpha (Harlequin Rasboras)
8 Hemigrammus rodwayi (Golden Tetras)
12 Corydoras panda (Panda Cories)
the aquarium is 75 gallons.
ammonia is 0, nitrite is 0, Nitrates stay below 10 PPM. pH is 6.6-6.8. Temperature is 75 degrees. I do 40% water changes every week.
There is real bogwood, and fake plants and caves.
I have 2 300 watt heaters and 2 Penguin 350 Power filters. I would be baffling the filters to reduce current flow if I got a Gourami.

Is there a Gourami that would fit in this aquarium? I'm particularly concerned that he not be too big and that he be very peaceful (this is currently an exceedingly peaceful tank, and I want it to stay that way).

Also, I'm a bit concerned about keeping a Gourami with the Rainbows because they can be fast swimmers and voracious eaters, and I noticed in the knowledge database for a lot of Gouramis it said they don't like boisterous tankmates. Would the Rainbows stress the Gourami with their fast swimming or outcompete him for food? Does anyone have experience keeping Gouramis with Praecox Rainbows?

Another thing, I know some Gouramis really prefer to be kept in male-female pairs or with a couple females and a male. I would want any Gourami I get not to be hard on the female, and not to become aggressive to the other tank mates in the event of a spawning. I'd honestly prefer they didn't have surviving offspring, is there a Gourami that would be perfectly happy without a female, or a species where I could find a female that is pretty and keep her without a male?

Hi, what are the dimensions of the tank please?

The dimensions are 48 by 18 by 21 inches, or 122 by 45 by 53 centimeters.

In which case I think you could easily have a pair, trio, or small group of Trichopodus leerii or Trichogaster fasciatus provided you can reduce the flow a bit. Both get large enough to avoid being bothered by your schooling fishes and, in my experience at least, males tend to be quite peaceful towards females. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Would the Trichogaster leerii be okay with fish an inch or less in size, even though it gets to about 5 inches? Some of my Cories are quite young, and I don't want them eaten.

I think so; gouramis rarely feed from the substrate and the species I mentioned shouldn't prey on any but the tiniest fishes. If worried buy them small so by the time they're adult-sized your cories will be too.
