i amtinking of setting up a nano aquarium for a small amount of marine fish. i like damselfish, perticularly clowns. what would i need for a pair of black (or orange, depending on ease!) ?
i will have a spare 35 x 30 x 30 tank with no lighting, (broken) and no filter. (bad i know lol!) i will refit new lights and a very good filter for it before i do anything!
thanks for any info /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

How are you planning on filtering it Jack?

Most people nowadays use the Berlin method which is just live rock and protein skimming. For this you will need a good protein skimmer and about 1 kilo of live rock for every two gallons of water.

If the tank is to be fish only with a little bit of live rock then ou could go for a traditional method of filtering - but generally this method produces a lot of nitrate which is really bad for corals etc.

If you want to keep corals then you will need good lighting.

I'm no expert btw and you may want to check out a couple of dedicated marine forums.

thanks so much for the reply! i plan on getting a large protein skimmer, and as much liverock a papre round will afford! lol
what lighting would i need? from what i can remember, it has 2 lights, one a blue white light, and a white light. a protein skimmer, and some live rock, sounds very good indeed!

If you want to keep corals you will need to double the lighting - what wattage are they?

not sure on wattage, /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> might just buy a new tank, gives me an extra excuse for another tank! /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> and fill the other with shrimp or something, ! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="Laugh" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
