hi there can anybody tell me outhere is filter wool in a filtration system for a marine tank a nitrate trap ore is it best not to use filter wool at all /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":unsure:" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> ulosky

nope - it's a dirt trap /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

but you should change it every week or so to keep it working at its best and to stop it froms tarting to work as a biological filter. Always make sure the wool is the very first thing in the system/filter/sump etc

Use it to stop excess dirt getting into the filter and clogging up other filter media

thanks very much i been keeping tropical for years but marine is a differant kettel of fish /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="Laugh" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

it's is basically just the same, just that marine fish are less forgiving about water quality as they are not used to much in the way of changes in quality compared to FW fish
