Hi,

Yesterday I have finished my new tank. Thanks Matt for some inspiration /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />. The plan is only put the taiwanese Cobitis in it.

On the left side is an area of 50 x 15 cm with sand, the rest is filled with "Pfennigkies" pennygravel/small plates. Much different stones and a few wood. Java fern, java moss and an unknown (never bought) Fissidens sp.

Some Pics:

And the right:

The whole tank:

A few minutes ago the first fifteen are moved in. Unbelievable easy to catch /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Pics from the inhabitants will follow.

Cheers,
Thomas

Fantastic-looking tank Thomas. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Are the Cobitis all the same sp.?

I think so Matt, they all differs a bit in their markings. Some have between the line near the back and the blotches on the side a second thinner line, some have only a few dots there, and others have nothing between the "backline" and the blotches. At some fishes the sideblotches looks more like a band than blotches.

Look at this site:
http://translate.google.com/tr.....slate?js=n...nake%2F28724172

I would really say that this are the same Cobitis as mine. And this means the origin Taiwan is true. In germany were offered this Cobitis as "Cobitis sp Wild caught Taiwan"

Here's a pic of my biggest female (8cm) It's the same fish as in the middle of the three pics above.

Hi Thomas, it looks very much like the fish listed as C. cf. sinensis in Chen and Chang (2005). I can scan the relevant pages for you if you haven't seen it already.

I've found these small larves in the tank today. A week ago I added some new Plants, but the larves have three pair of barbels and looks very similar to C. taenia larves.
