    Hi,

I have an empty 50cmx30cmx30cm aquarium tank and I want to make an Irrawaddy River biotope of it.

I already found some species that I could take:

    Parasphaerichthys lineatus

    Indostomus paradoxus

Dario hysginon (but this wil probably become Dario dario since already have dario dario)

Does someone have any idea how much of each species I should take? And are there any other species from that biotope?

    Greetings

With just 45l at your disposal you are certainly right to go with small species, I am not sure whether the three that you listed would actually occur in the same locality (may matter or not – depending on how strict you want to be about the ‘biotope’ factor).

If you are prepared to do a bit of data mining on your own, you could start by querying fishbase.org database for ecosystem ‘Irrawaddy’. It will return a nice, long list that you can copy and paste into a spreadsheet and then try to eliminate fish you certainly don’t want by using filters (I.e. filter out anything over, say 8cm TL, because they are to big for your tank). The list will give you following info:

Species Name Family Habitat Length (cm) Trophic Level Status

After you have finished filtering you could research whatever is left.

You can actually search by river system here as well using the ‘advanced search’ in the Knowledge Base. I haven’t finished editing all species but a search for ‘Irrawaddy’ still returns 5 pages of results: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/advanced-search/?act=s&f=&g=&s=&c=&r=Irrawaddy&tmin=&tmax=&hmin=&hmax=&pHmin=&pHmax=&cmin=&cmax=&sF=&sM=&aL=&aD=&aH=

I’d be wary about keeping those three species together in such a small tank, incidentally. Perhaps better to concentrate on one of them alongside a small group of dithers?

I too believe that this setup isn’t a good idea. Especially Indostomus paadoxus would be entirely outcompeted for food, certainly by any Dario spp.
