I’m back for a short visit in my second home. Hoping to do some fishing though plans with Thai friends are not materializing due to some scheduling problems. I plan to rent a car and go off & see what I can find?
Took a few quick pics at Cahtuchak mkt. yesterday. There’s always interesting stuff there! Rather than post all the pics here I’ll try to just link my photobucket album.

Jim whereabouts are you? Might be able to provide some locality suggestions via papers I have.

Going to hit the Eastern Seaboard Matt ( Rayong/Chantaburi/Trat provinces), same areas as before. I have places in mind, I just have to find them! Bought maps today. Biggest challenge will be navigating my way out of bangkok. Never driven around the city, it’s chaos!

That would be fun Matt! Come on!!
I didn’t mean to discourage any info you might have. If there’s anything relevant to the area I’d be interested for sure.

Thanks also for the comments all!

Hmmm maybe in a year or two we could meet for a mission Jim! Got a promise to visit a friend in Peninsular Malaysia so could combine the two…

Will see what I have for the provinces you mention. Any particular target species?

Thanks Andy. The shop guy told me they were Japanese and actually showed me a profile in a book, not in english. Not a scientific name that i can remember and didn’t write it down. I only had my point&shoot camera and they were quick! And beatuiful!

Hi Jim , thanks for the reply !

I have a little handbook on Japanese freshwater fish , and the nearest contenders would be Sarcocheilichthys possibly biwanensis ? or possibly a type of Hemibarbus ? the book is in Japanese /thumbs_up.gif” style=”vertical-align:middle” emoid=”” border=”0″ alt=”thumbs_up.gif” />
