    Some of these little Akysis are right on their way to one of my tanks. Caught in 2010 by friends of mine in Chantaburi (Thailand) in a stream with low water level and lots of Cryptocoryne (picture).

    Any suggestions?

    Matt,
    FYI: if this is really maculipinnis, the text in the species description says “Although aquatic plants are unlikely to be a feature of its natural habitat…”, which is, in fact, not the case, because the Akysis were caught directly from between the Cryptocorynes shown in the picture…

    Finally five of the maculipinnis arrived in one of my tanks.
    The males look like the one in the picture above, while females clearly show a bulcky, bluish belly. As far as I know Akysis eggs are mostly green to turquoise. So, let’s have a look how things work out…
