This was first collected in 2009 and I’m curious if anyone has found it since? It’s definitely a new species and looks really interesting.

I know that seller (great one!!) but don’t see what that has got to do with this badid I posted? It’s not on the list and to be honest I don’t see it ending up on a shop’s list in the next forseeable years (too small a market thus too low a value). It will probably depend solely on private collectors for availability. Who is ‘we’ Torso?

Beautiful – the patterning almost looks like something between B. assamensis and B. badis. Any additional info on this fish Stefan? Was it brought out of India?

P.S. that list is nice but expensive!

No additional info I’m afraid. What reminds you of assamensis? Not sure it belongs to the Badis badis group (diagnosed by the presence of iridescent blue bloth on superficial part of cleithrum) but they usually have unsharp bars whereas these have differently composed bars (sharper, more full in black pigment, reminding a bit of kyar’s bars – with which they have nothing in common though). 1 single photo isn’t enough in this case to assign it to a group. I think preserved material has been brought back and has probably been stored in NRM, Sweden. I’d love to get my hands on some live material!!

Notice I said ‘almost’ looks like a cross between those two.

Strangely it lacks the aforementioned cleithral blotch. It does have a blotch on the operculum, characteristic of the assamensis group but lacks the random blotches forming bars. This one definitely awakes interest.

    What’s your opinion?
    “we” that’s another story.

Sorry Stefan. you are the expert. Seems some pics are wrongly labelled. When I saw badis assamensi on the list I went through the pic library and found this

Yeah I thought you might have confused ‘my’ fish with Badis assamensis – which is exactly what Mathias’s photo is showing in your link. I can’t see the other pics because they’re attachments.
