I want to add more tanks but cost is scaring me

I run sponge filters in smaller tanks powered by a central pump. the largest tanks have sump filters and the rest have powerfilters of one kind or another and sponge filters too.

With 25 to 30 tanks it does take so time to maintain it all but i love it.

    Sounds good.

how many filters do you have running of the central pump and is it hard to install it like that??

would love to have 5 small(ish)(20 gal) tropical tanks with small fish but for cost effectiveness i need to find a way to only running of filtering and heating them all as cheaply as possible.

    Any ideas??

I used piston-driven air pumps like this one in my fish room and they worked perfectly if a little noisy. With a 70-80 litre per minute pump you can run up to 10 small tanks no problem at all.

I use a linear pump to run about 20 tanks with sponge filters. I plumb the air through pvc pipe that has valves installed in it to adjust the air output to each tank. So for a central air pump you have several choices. You could drill the tanks and plumb the to a central filter and use a water pump to run and filter the tanks too. Many options.

Lots to consider but a fun project either way.
