I just recently bought about 30 RCS and 20 CRS so technically I should have close to 50 shrimp, right? Well after looking throughout the tank I’ve been able to see maybe 10 at any given moment. The fish are oto cats, bristlenose plecos, licorice gouramis and weitzmani tetras, could any of these be eating the shrimp? I know that they hide for a few days or so while molting but I want to know before I buy some more and they fall to the same fate.

hmm, i know shrimps are a master at hiding, but i’d be wary of the gouramis to start and perhaps the tetras. although i don’t think they would eat them, they may, perhaps, damage them, picking at their feelers, legs, eyes etc thus causing irepairable damage. not to sure about the BN’s, although i have had them in my shrimp tanks and not had a problem.
i hope they are just hiding at the moment and will show themselves soon.

Theres nothing in the tank that would strike me as a shrimp eater.

What do you have at the bottom of you tank stones or sand??

Possibly just buried themselves while they get used to there new surroundings. Also if you have lots of hiding places as well you could have a mixture of 12 molting so hidden, 7 shy so buried and then the rest just coming out in turns.

If any of your fish had eaten 40 shrimp it would be pretty clear where they were lol

If the shrimp are tiny would the weitzmani have a go?
