    do shrimp clean plants? i want something to keep them “Shiny” and fresh. how many would i need for a 21.gal. 3ft. tank? the plants are healthy and growing, but the get algae and food stuck in them. thanks for your help and time!

    yep, amano shrimp eat various types of algae and also scavenge for leftovers. You can go for as many as you like really – 10-20 would be good in a 3ft tank.

    What fish do you have though as plenty would love a prawn sandwich!

    While shrimp can help with algae control, they will only help if you have a small amount of algae. If you have a lot of it then you should look at other parameters to control it – do you have too much lighting or have it on for too long etc. Do you have high nirates/phosphates, do you do regular water changes etc?

    all my levels have gone down to about zero. i do 25-40 % water change every 1-2 weeks,
