Haven’t been around here for a while but I’m hoping someone will be able to shed some light on this for me :)  Wasn’t quite sure where to post this so I hope I’m in the right right place (and I know it’s holiday season so I’ve not timed it that well!).

I came across quite a bit of info on this from various sources when I was doing some research recently and then found an article on PFK about it.

It’s Amazon/Brazil based and seems to go by various names; Project Mamiraua, Darwin Initative Mamiraua, ZSL joint project Mamiraua, Sociedad Civil Mamiraua and probably more! It was a DEFRA/Darwin Initiative/ZSL/Sociedad Civil Mamiraua project from 2005-2009 with the aim of improving sustainable wild caught fishing in the Amazon Basin. But I’m struggling to find anything that says what happened after 2009. PFK reported in 2009 that it would provide traceable fair trade fish but can’t much since:

    There’s some more info here

Has anyone heard any more about it? Did anything come of it after 2009?

If anyone has any further info that would be great :)

Looking at the timeline there was still some activity from 2010 through 2012, but nothing as yet for 2013. I know Peter Henderson was involved there for quite some time, but I haven’t spoken to him in years.

Thanks for the reply :)  Will have a google for Peter Henderson and see if that turns up anymore information :)  I’m hoping it’s still going as this is the sort of thing that the fishkeeping community could give a lot of support to if only the information was more widely available :)
