Caught this bright green little fella (approx 2 cm) in Crique Cacao in French Guiana some time ago. A small stream with few fish and a low water level. Any ideas?IMG_3273-1.jpg

Very young Myleus show that kind of pattern, but the mouth doesn’t look right.

That was my first thought as well when I caught it. Acnodon perhaps?

Acnodon are large river fish aren’t they? However, mouth spahe is much more like. Cool!

(edit) fits with the reported juvenile habitat, so definitely cool!

Very beautiful place indeed, Matt :). We collected Rivulus xiphidius and Rivulus cladophorus in this stream. Also found a species that I think is a Melanocharacidium and some Krobia (in the deeper parts). Will put up more pictures and a full report for this trip in the coming months.
