Hi to everybody. I bought 5 of these at my local fish shop (sold under the name botia sidthimunki Laugh) I identified them as rosy loaches thanks to the SF website. However mine appear to be larger than what is reported. Is this the same fish?

    Bye

This looks more like P. brevis to me?

you’re right… Only judging from the pictures on the website, the P. Brevis has always a discontinuous lateral line of black spots. Mine all have a continuous line, therefore more similar to P. Rosy. However I took a look at the bibliography that you provide (Kottelat 2012 and Kottelat and Chu 1998) in both papers the males are said to have spots that can actually merge in a continuous line. So… yes, they are probably a male-only group of P. Brevis. :-(

    Thanks a lot!
