yes, they would. L. annandalei need time. Gunteas are not so easy to impress. they even ignore the large-bodied garra flavatra when dinner is served.

I decided to add this here instead of starting a new thread, OK??
These showed up in the shipment at my LFS yesterday. I wanted to get them right from the bag but they were too busy. I wish I had as they are near impossible to fish out of the gravel substrate with undergravel plates in the shop tanks. After 30-40 minutes I managed to net 3, will try again tomorrow. The largest 2 are about 2″ and the other maybe 1 1/2″. Just a couple quick shots in the Q-tank.

Sweet find Jim! I saw what I think are an Acanthopsoides sp. here yesterday (being sold as Acantopsis). Only 3 euros each so tempted to go get some tomorrow…

For now i have a 15 gal., 24×12 that I set up with sand for the kottelatlimia(all gone). The homaloptera sp. H01 are also in this tank temporarily, they’re very shy & submissive compared to h. smithi.
I’ve been trying to sex them but it’s difficult to see that tiny pec fin ray! They ate bloodworms shortly after I released them so that’s a good sign. Very attractive little fish!

A few recent pics now that they’re in their home. They seem to like it. On the white sand they’re always pale. They showed better color in the barebottom tank. I’m going to put more dark stones in & see what happens.

Sharing a pellet with the shrimp!

It’s very interesting how they filter sand throught their gills while feeding.

After more than two years I’m back in business with the annandalei. Today I got 5 of them. Hope it works better this time!

    Cheers,

    Thomas

Great Thomas! Good luck with them. I still have 4 or 5. They seem to stay buried more lately, I don’t see much of them.
