    A non-forum using friend sent these images and is asking if he has a mixture of genders or not. Three individual fish, all measuring around 10 cm SL. Can they be sexed?

    Matt,
    not sure about this, but Ralf Nelles (Germany) managed to breed aura. If you compare the pictures of the breeding male and a female, you may clearly see differences in the colors of the fins! Further he reports that adult females are more bulky if well-fed (eggs). Unfortunately, this is not visible in the pictures above…

    Thanks Frank, there certainly do appear to be differences in fin colour, though I’d expect brooding males to be darker overall anyway? Wonder if head shape is also a clue?

    Ive got four matt and due to do a wee photo shoot with them so hopefully that will help?
