Another question to make some of you , and me:oops: , but here goes:

In a well planted 55gallon, lives a lonely Bolivian Ram male. His tankmates are tetras (emperor) and cory cats. He is very peaceful. His mate died mysteriously (she never ate very well from the beginning), while he thrived and is full grown. There are caves etc. and he just hangs out in his favorite place. Sometimes he appears to be looking for her in other caves. 🙁

For months now there have been no other M.altispinosa for sale anywhere. If I purchase a female Blue Ram (M.ramirezi) do you think he will like her and be happier?

I’m not sure Reva simply because the two species are a bit different in terms of their behaviour with M. altispinosa more of a schooling fish and M. ramirezi tending to be territorial once they reach maturity.

Reva, most, if not all of our local shops are supplied by wetspot/cichlid exchange so I would think you could get one of the shops to bring them in for you if you can’t make the trip to Portland. Also, $15. priority USPS shipping works well from there.

I will find him a girlfriend :P). I would love to go down and just chat with folks that know what they are talking about. Have you been there yourself?

I stopped at their store last Summer while passing through Portland, very nice. But they have much more across the street at the wholesale shop, didn’t get there. I have also ordered from them direct several times without issue.

Those are my b. histrionica, they have changed a good bit since that pic. Mi nic, plaamoo, is Thai for botia
