Went for a wander in this park last weekend so here are some pics:

    Main river:

We decided to walk up a small tributary:

    Bufo bufo:

    Bufo porn!

    Salamandra salamandra larva:

There were loads of these, many of which appeared to by dying. Species?

    Some experimental underwater shots:

Bufo pair in amplexus with much darker female below light-coloured male:

On the way back we stopped for refreshments at this nice place:

    Which seemed quite normal:

Then we heard strange noises coming from the garden:

Seems the owner is a bit of a bird-lover as there were ducks and swans…

    …fancy pigeons, chickens, quail…

    …um, and an emu!

Also tried to get some videos of the fishes there (Barbus and Salmo spp.) but mostly failed miserably. View Original Movie

Looks like a lovely place Matt! How’s the Spanish beer?

Underwater pics look good. I’m guessing you weren’t submerged while shooting the vid?

You guess right Jim, wasn’t in the water for the pics either – still way too cold for me!

That particular Spanish beer (Estrella) isn’t the greatest as it contains artificial preservatives meaning a guaranteed knacked head the next day if you drink a few. That said, a cold one still tastes delightful when thirsty.

Not sure there are Triturus up there Colin, or at least I can’t find any records, but could it be this one?

If it is should I have expected to find adults too? Turned over plenty of rocks/wood both in the water and around the margins but found nowt.
