I’ll be getting a new Betta tank soon, a 25 litre Superfish. I’ve always used 25w heaters in nano sized tanks before, but this time I’ve been advised to get a 50 watt.

Do you agree? And if so which heater would you go for? I’ve looked at the Eheim Jager which, although long seems quite a neat heater, or should I go for the Fluval E50? I’ve got a E100 in my AR620 tank and its been great, but the Jager comes with a 3 year guarantee which does impress me.

    I’d be grateful for opinions

A 25W will be fine for a tank that size. In the unlikely event that a 50W jammed in the “on” position it would make the water too warm and reduce the oxygen content, both of which are harmful to the fish.

I used 25W in my nano tanks (25 litres and less) – would have used smaller if I could find a decent one. 50W is way too much!
