Nice Nik! What general area were they collected in?

The only ones I can take a stab at are pics 4 (Channa stewartii var.?), 5 (Rohtee or Osteobrama sp. – does it have barbels?), 6 (B. bakeri or canarensis – still don’t know the difference

Thanks Colin. Yes trips are good and in plenty but we are having these Mango showers in Karnataka so any trips will have to wait atleast 2 weeks to make sure the water levels are manageable.

Matt the Channa and the Cat were collected in Assam. Not Karnataka.

    Nikhil,

Its hard to ID barilius. Think B .canaransis has 17 or fewer anal fin rays and B. bakeri has more. Think Marc has commented in Nayak’s fishroom thread on IDing barilius. But just cant go with colors and patterns.

Cool catch. My favorite fish Botia striata.

The barb looks like Puntius sahyadrensis

Agree on the barb and fresh-collected B. striata! Ni-ice!!
