Cheers – needed something to scale lol

    nepenthes are not so bad…

full sunlight in a bright south or west window
temp of about 25 to 28 through the day and about 18 at night
    higher humidity at night
soft water in free draining substrate (sphagnum moss usually)

I tend to keep highland species as they are hardier for my weather/house conditions. They dont grow much here through the winter

    yeah maybe 8 feet lol…

I think that they might as long as you can give them a good spray at night to increase some humidity? and a night time drop in temp of a few degrees… perhaps not in full sunlight?

Think I might buy one or two after my holiday then. Half the terrace is in shade for much of the day. Cheers Colin!

Nay idea – there were a few different but all were just labelled as ‘Nepenthes sp.’. Do any cultivars exist?

Got some Lithops too which I’ve made a wee display for. Know anything about them?

I keep a few Lithops. They’re a fascinating little plant.

They have an inherent dislike of water. It is very easy to overwater them. Unlile cacti or other succulents they are dormant in the summer and even a small amount of water will kill them at that time. Also once they start to bud (when the fissure forms between the 2 leaves, late September usually ) water will, u guessed it, kill them. It’s not uncommon for them to get just two waterings a year. They need direct sunlight and will happily bake under the sun all day long although I’ve had the best results with a little layered canopy above them (like the stuff they put on football pitches during summer). They are intolerant of frost so u should aim to keep them at least at 5 C, 8-10 would be better.
There is a lot of good stuff on the web but if u have any specific questions shoot.

Cool info thanks! Yeah I’ve resisted the temptation to water them even though they’ve been repotted. Will post a pic or two in a separate thread later, think I have at least three species.
