One of my favourite groups of fish are the Pelvicachromis, despite the majority of people labeling them all as ‘kribs’ they are a wonderful group of fish. Most species are not commonly found and some are very rare to the hobby. One of the species P.taeniatus has numerous forms and collecting localities across Nigeria and Cameroon. These can be hard to source but luckily a well know UK shop recently imported several forms direct from Cameroon. I was one of the lucky ones to get my hands on these fish and they are now settled and breeding in my tanks.

This fish is P.taeniatus from the ‘Lobe’ river system, it is recognisable by its lack of occili in the caudal fin.. A very beautiful fish.

    Very nice indeed!

I got both the “Lobe” and “Kienke” and they are absolutely stunning! Strange that they are so much less popular then Apistos.
