It’s my first time uploading pictures, so i don’t know if this worked, but does anyone know what plant this could be?

I found it during summer in a small lake in Tuscany near Sienna, Italy. I found it in the really wet mud around the lake and in the lake, but never completely submerged. Only the roots and the lower part of the stem were under water. The buds you can see growing on that long stem flowered into really pretty purple flowers.

What I have here is a small specimen. I saw some at least a meter high, but the tall ones were completely emerged and most of them were dry and dead.

Anyone have any clues on what it could be?

    Maybe an Alisma species?

I agree, if they were all that size I’d say A. gramineum but that doesn’t fit the larger specimens you mention.
