This is what we have from JJ for P. melanampyx. Is it a P. fasciatus variant?
August 31, 2008 at 10:45 pm #309041possible mate, but i’ll tell andy to have a look at that pic,
i’d say myself that it’s just another variant of fasciata but andy will tell you mate.
he should be on tomorrow.mick
August 31, 2008 at 11:09 pm #309045I would agree with (Jerdon, 1849) and disregard (Day, 1865).
September 1, 2008 at 1:06 pm #309074Yup agreed Graeme. There’s no melanampyx profile in the database was just thinking I’d add this pic to the fasciatus profile if it is that species as it’s not a form I’ve seen before.
September 1, 2008 at 5:57 pm #309125I’d agree that this fish is a fasciatus !
Keep a lookout for Fasciatus Pradhani , very similar but with five bands , nice lookers too ! I think they are smaller in size than the regular Fasciatus ?
I think this might have been touched on somwhere here , that Fasciatus are very hard drivers of the females whilst spawning ? but if my memory serve’s me right Mick found them quite gentle ? if so it just goes to show you cant trust everyrthing you readAuthorPostsViewing 5 posts - 1 through 5 (of 5 total)You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
