I like that adult fish it looks wow!
Do you think it is the same as this fish?

This fish is being offered from Singapore as assimilis …
I know a lot of Indian fish go directly there …
Nikhil have you seen the fish with the red lateral stripe ?

    Hi Neil,

The SF profile pic from the P. mahecola page looks like an P. assimilis thats found here in Karnataka. But restricted to only one river -Sita. Sold as the Blue peacock assimilis. It looks very similar with the same amount of blue but the red line is prominent only after water changes.

My fish is very different, comes from Tamil nadu. Completely different species. As of now I am the only supplier/collector of Puntius rohani in India. Even though people had collected this before and sen it as just a geographical variant of the P.filamentosus. But was recently described by a friend of mine.

The major difference between the P. filamentosus & P.rohani based on morphological characteristics I have seen are the fins. The P. rohani gets its tail & anal fin very red and the tail only on the outer margin. Filaments have clear fins with the black spots at the edge of the tail.

Colin wait a few months I will send exactly whats on the tin

Hi Nik, do you mean this one??

That other pic is of supposed P. assimilis, taken by Graeme Robson and used in our profile here. Used with permission by ourselves but I’m guessing not on the trade lists?
