A couple of notes about the profile:

Incubation is normally 9-11 days and there is no pelagic stage, the fry hatching with only a small yolk sac attached and dropping to the substrate to forage straight away.

Interestingly, the first time they spawned this was not the case: the fry hatched over three days, all with large yolk sacs… looked like zhoui or diospilus fry … and the survival rate was not stellar, especially among those that hatched on the first day.
The current spawn hatched over three hours and matches “only a small yolk sac”… and immediately interested in artemia.

Typo in the profile: They can be offered Artemia nauplii, microworm, and suchlike immediately.

    Hope Jutta is around:

Can I feed them frozen daphnia? Fry is at 1cm, and they want too much artemia :(

    Hi Mike,

sorry, I was a long time not online.

You can feed them anything, you want. They eat everything that fits their mouth :-)

Concrats! What takes long is worth it :-D

This is from 10/08… they actually grew since, probably daphnia feedings, they seem to like it.

‘Suchlike’ dispute has been more-or-less resolved via pm. :)

    They are looking great Mike!
