    Hi all

the mistery about the “yellow” Tanichthys is solved. In AMAZONAS 41 Mai/June 2012 Ingo Seidel shows pics of the new species, pics of eggs and fry inclusive.

The species has been found by Mikael Hakànson/Imazo and Saigon Aquarium in 2009 Da Nang province in Vietnam. Specimen have been exported by Saigon Aquarium to Europe in 2010. The species is easy to breed, but no exports are to be expected futhermore.

The species is not identic with T. thacbaensis.

Seems Jörg Bohlen is at work for the description since 2010. So we are waiting.

    Cheers Charles

I was fortunate enough to pick up a dozen of these little beauties from Frank’s Aquarium last week.

Are they still quite small Dennis?

Yes, the largest ones are only about 1/2 adult size.

Lucky you! I saw the fish @ Frank, and he had to pass on them in favor of the loaches 🙁

Hopefully you’ll breed them soon enough!

Are these the ones that are listed as thacbaensis at Pier?

Highly probable, they are a Singapore import, on the export list now, and the same exporter ships to Europe.

Hi Dennis how are these doing for you? Just adding a profile and it would be great to get some first-hand experience. :)

I got them too, a couple of weeks ago. (At least two people who got them from the original shipment of a year ago, bred them, so the fish is likely to become common in the hobby… I got juvenile F1s, larger than the new imports, maybe already breedable).

Nothing to add for the profile, other than my impression that the species is smaller than the other two…need to wait a bit to make sure.

Ok thanks Mike. Will go ahead and add a basic profile now. Any pics of your ones?
