Wow! Sword play is nothing compared to going on vacation!!
It was a roller coaster to say the least. We managed to keep a “fun” demeanor, but boy oh boy am I glad to be home! Our fish and kitties were in good hands with our daughter, but the doggies got to “ride the roller coaster with us”

The wine dinner was WONDERFUL as usual, and it was 102*F in the wine country. we brought all clothes for hot weather…which was a good plan for That Day and Evening.

Then we headed for the campground on the Oregon coast….

here’s the quickie email story that i sent to friends, with urls:

we were in one of the worst lightning storms in Ten Years on the Oregon coast this past week..in our TENT. We thought it was quite a rush as we were warm and cozy and out tent has fiberglass frame poles and we were on rubber mats and inflatable mattress. Sanjuro decided (about four in the morning) that his nerves were shot, and climbed , shaking into bed with us, and of course, Selkie couldnt be left out. If it had stopped raining the next morning it would have been great, and we would have done our hike to the lighthouse as planned. But it knocked out power to the bathrooms, (no shower, no potty, no electricity for coffee) so we headed for the Shilo Inn and a hot breakfast in Newport. There we had a good time at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, and on the beach playing ball with the dogs and wading in tide pools, looking at starfish and other cool critters.
Then we went inland , to the trappist monk abby in Carlton and sampled and purchased delicious fruitcake. That was a needed restful moment! Then we headed home in a hideous downpour as the second storm system rolled in. Finally, here we sit, home at last on SUNNY Whidbey Island. You know you love where you live when for your whole vacation you just wanta go home! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tP4kTF5oO40

You guys here at SF.com would have loved the deep sea part of the aquarium, where you get to walk through tubes in the big aquarium, under the water, and see sharks, rays, and other cool big fish all around you. They had interesting glass art in the tropical tanks, and I could almost hear you all saying “why? why cant they just appreciate the fish in a natural environment?” Will post the pics as soon as we download. I enjoyed the jelly fish tanks Eeeeemmensely, and had fun telling children what things were (like Chocolate Chip Starfish etc.) (sorry Matt, I cant think of it’s Real Name)

Anyhow, it’s tank maintenance time..all my fish are looking at me like “help!” Where have you been??? All we get is flake food these days….

    thanks guys…

Malti I loved the storm itself…it was lack of facilities after the storm that did me in…

check out this other url of slow motion filming of lightning strikes….
Like some sort of hydra of the sky, the tentacles of electricity seek somewhere to touch..then one tentacle scores a hit and Boom!
