A friend of mine ‘inherited’ a number of cichlids. Unfortunately he does not know the name of all of them. I managed to get a semi-decent picture of one of the unidentified ones. It appears to be either a Haplochromis species or something closely related to Haplochromis. This is the dominant male and it is 10 to 11 cm (4-4½”) long.

Can anyone in here help identifying this one?

This is a male Astatotilapia aeneocolor. They are similar and closely related to the Victorian haplochromines but are found in Lake George and Lake Edward and the Kazinga Channel which connects the two lakes.

Thanks a lot. That seems to be absolutely spot on.
